Teela + Marty | Amarillo Wedding | Beautiful

Well, the day final arrived and I was so excited! When I stepped outside however there was a menacing fog covering the city. But not to worry, it wasn’t long before the sun cleared the fog away. It turned out to be a perfect day to for Teela and Marty’s wedding at Westminster Presbyterian. The church was beautifully decorated by Kim’s crew at www.timelesseleganceweddings.com. Kim’s team also did a wonderful job on the reception at the Amarillo Civic Center’s Grand Plaza. I met Teela at the church early in the day and as soon as I saw the HUGE smile on her face, I knew it was going to be a great day!

While the girls finished getting ready Dustin Fuller (who graciously assisted me for the day) and I went to hang out with Marty. After a quick game of table hoops (in which the 3 year old ring bearer was the winner I think) we headed outside to create some wedding day photographs. The guys were a fun group and we all had a blast! Before long the guests were arriving and as the sun set over the church Teela and Marty were married. After a few family portraits we cruised to the reception!

The reception was elegant and fun–which was a perfect topper to the wedding. There were strings of beads and orchids hung from high up that seemed to fall like a gentle rain over the dance floor. The happy couple danced and laughed with all of their friends and family. It was a lot to take in and there were smiles everywhere I looked! My favorite end to the night was a moment when Teela and Marty were dancing together and it seemed as if the world around them was far away. Something about the magical contrast of that moment caused me to photograph it in black and white–a quiet contrast to the color that surrounded all of us.

Sherwin & Jenny, Jed and Lisa and most of all Teela and Marty-It was an honor to spend this happy time in your lives with you. You all have wonderful families. Thank you for the opportunity!

Kenley + Nathan + Baby Bump

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to create this photograph during Kenley and Nathan’s Baby Bump session! Kenley is due any day now. I can’t wait to meet the new addition to their family!

Their session was created in my new party venue next door to my studio.
You can read more about it at www.TylerStreetWeddings.com! We just booked a birthday party and a new wedding for next summer at Tyler Street

I’m launching some new fun products and sessions for families with babies soon. If you want to be included in the new baby launch, please send me an email and write “Add Me To The Baby List” in the subject. I’ll get you added! Send the email to: inf0@davyknapp.com

Secret Garden Fine Flowers

I had the pleasure of hanging out with the Secret Garden team for a photography session a few days before Valentine’s Day. The floral industry is a madhouse around Valentine’s Day so I was surprised when Parie called me with the request for some updated staff photos! But, if you’ve been around the Secret Garden crew at all, you know that they pull together amazing things (like weddings, parties and events) no matter what is going on in their world at the time. They tend to be almost “magic” like that!

I’ve been fortunate to be able to work with Parie and Keith Villyard closely over the years. We’ve crossed paths on every type of event from “In The Pink” and “The Tri State Fair Gala” to some of the most amazing weddings in the Texas panhandle. They always bring an energy and sense of fun to everything they touch.

Now, when I think about it, Secret Garden has been there for the most important events in my personal life too.

Weird. I just thought about this…

Two very memorable recent events that Secret Garden was there for come to mind. One was Cassy and I’s wedding two years ago. They created the most beautiful feel for our wedding. Our guests had such a great time because of Keith and Parie’s hard work.

The second was the arrangement that they created for my Granddad’s funeral. My Granddad was a very accomplished gardener. He spent so much time in his garden growing vegetables of all kind. We all loved the sacks of Kentucky wonders, corn and zucchini he would give us during the summer and fall. So when he passed away, we called Secret Garden and asked if they could make a special arrangement. Instead of just “taking an order” over the phone like most florists might–Keith rushed right over to my parents house and into the garden. He took vegetables back to the shop and Parie and the team created the most amazing arrangement from my Granddad’s favorite vegetables. It meant so much to me and my family.

Secret Garden is always over the top in understanding exactly what each of us needs when it comes to flowers and events! You guys mean the world to Cassy and I.

Amarillo Fellowship Church + Steeple

I had the pleasure of working with Amarillo Fellowship Church families a
few weeks ago. What a great group of people! It was so much fun hanging out with them and creating
some beautiful memories for their church.

The few families I had the opportunity to meet were
super fun and energetic–which made the day fly by almost too fast! You guys are an amazing group of people! Thank you for the opportunity.
You can find out more about Amarillo Fellowship Church by visiting http://www.amarillofellowshipchurch.com/ .

The group did a great job of not looking too cold in the photographs. Since these photographs will be used in spring 2010
brochures, everyone had to dress like “spring” even though it was 40 degrees outside! Be sure to leave a comment and let them know how WARM they look.:-)
