I Love North Face Ski Gear

I remember skiing as a kid and always being freezing cold. Of course, as a kid, it would have been ridiculous for my parents to have spent a crazy amount of money on ski clothes that I would outgrow in one season. But in college, I kind of went crazy. I skied up to 30 + days a year. I went through a lot of gear. I found out that being too hot is just as miserable as being too cold.

In my early twenties I worked in Colorado for a summer. I learned from locals that the secret staying warm / cool / dry in the mountains is to layer your clothing. And to stay away from cotton as cotton doesn’t keep you warm when it gets wet. So now when I ski (or flyfish) I layer clothing so its easy to add layers or take them away while on the mountain. Below are my favorite ski clothing items from Northface.com. My base layers are Marmot and Patagonia right now.

Teela + Marty

I’m really looking forward to Teela and Marty’s wedding this month. They are a such a great couple! We had a ton of fun at the engagement session. I knew after just a few minutes that we were going to have a great time. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Teela and her family through our church for years. In fact, I photographed her senior portraits years ago! Marty is a cool guy, too. We hit it off pretty quickly. He is into hunting. I love hanging out with guys who have hunted for years. I’m relatively new to hunting and I love to hear everything I can about it.

Marty has actually enlisted Teela to go with him on some hunting trips! I’ve always thought of Teela as this very pretty-always looks impeccable-sweet girl. But I was totally surprised to see how Teela transformed into this camo-ed out girl. She had the heavy hunting boots and all! And she fit right in with Marty wonderfully! A perfect match.

Cami + David

Engagement Amarillo Texas

Cami and David are getting married later this year. They have a really cool story. They met while they were both lifeguards at a local gym. Its a unique part of their history, so we thought it might be fun to include a little piece of their story in their engagement session–I had so much fun hanging out with them. They are the happiest couple and I can’t wait for the wedding!

One of my favorite things about meeting new people is to hear their stories. I believe that a photograph should tell a story too. A random photograph in itself just really isn’t worth much, unless it says something to its owner…

Taos

Fun and skiing in Taos New Mexico! We’re here for R & R for a week. After the amazing Christmas season we just completed, Cassy and I are ready to relax. So we rented a house and took a week off.  It just started snowing so we’re off to the slopes.
